Hinsdale South Named to Newsweek List of America's Top High Schools

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 today proudly announced that “Newsweek” magazine named Hinsdale South High School to the 2015 list of America’s Top High Schools. According to “Newsweek,” the rankings assess schools based on a broad range of data to determine which institutions do the best job of preparing students for college. Hinsdale South earned the 415th spot on the list of 500 high schools.

“We are immensely proud to be named to this list,” said Hinsdale South Principal Stephanie Palmer. “The entire faculty and staff at South continuously work to engage our students and to create an atmosphere that inspires them to be lifelong learners. By focusing on improving student outcomes and college readiness, we are giving our students the skills they need to succeed not only in high school but throughout their lives. To receive national recognition for what we strive to achieve every day, well, that’s just icing on the cake.”

For the high schools that participated in the survey, “Newsweek” created a weighted college readiness index based on the following six indicators:

·         College Enrollment Rate

·         Graduation Rate

·         Weighted AP/IB/Dual Enrollment composite

·         Weighted SAT/ACT composite

·         Student Retention

·         Counselor-to-Student Ratio
