Course Offers Pre-Engineering Students Valuable Information and Dual Credit
More than 120 pre-engineering students from Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South took part in the AET 101 course that was held in Central’s auditorium in late November. The course featured a presentation about careers in engineering by Professor Chuck Bales from Moraine Valley Community College.
Students who attended the presentation and complete an assigned project earn one hour of dual credit from Moraine Valley, as well as the three remaining credit hours for completing the district's Pre-Engineering 1 curriculum. Students who complete Pre-Engineering 1 and 2 receive seven hours of dual credit from Moraine Valley.
Students enrolled in AET 101 are introduced to careers in production automation, robotics and engineering technology. They are required to research employment skills and knowledge, field-specific definitions, professional certifications and associations, current issues in the field and salaries.
