Information about Insurance for Student Devices

District 86 is partnering with Worth Ave. Group again this year to offer students a special discount on insurance for their district-issued Chromebooks. This insurance will cover the full cost of repairing or replacing a device should any of the following incidents occur on or off school property:

  • Accidental damage
  • Theft
  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Natural disasters
  • Power surge
  • Vandalism

The policy can also be transferred to a replacement unit.

For our students and their families, the insurance will cost $60.50 for the year to cover the Acer Spin devices being used by our ninth graders and $56 to cover the Lenovo 500e devices being used in grades 10 through 12. There is no limit on the number of claims that can be submitted, nor will the nature or quantity of those claims impact the cost or status of the insurance. With that said, if Worth discovers that any fraudulent activity has been committed, it reserves the right to cancel the policy.

You can access additional information about the insurance or purchase coverage by visiting Ninth grade families that plan to purchase insurance for their child’s device should select $440 from the dropdown menu for coverage amount, while the families of students in grades 10 through 12 should select $375. These amounts do not represent how much you will pay for coverage, but rather the dollar value of the devices.
