Board Adopts Resolution #20.02 Regarding Sterigenics U.S. LLC, Willowbrook, Illinois

Hinsdale, IL – August 8, 2019 – During its Committee of the Whole Meeting on Thursday, August 8, the Hinsdale Township High School District Board of Education voted to adopt Resolution #20.02 Regarding Sterigenics U.S. LLC, Willowbrook, Illinois. Board President Nancy Pollak and Superintendent Tammy Prentiss presented signed copies of Resolution #20.02 to representatives from the municipal authorities of Willowbrook, Hinsdale, Darien, and Burr Ridge.

 

By adopting Resolution #20.02, the Board expresses its support for the efforts of the municipal authorities of Willowbrook, Hinsdale, Darien, Burr Ridge, Willow Springs, Western Springs and the area public schools in stopping or limiting the resumption of operations at the Sterigenics facilities in Willowbrook until further health and environmental studies on the safety of the air near the facilities can be conducted to demonstrate that the facilities are not a harm to public health and safety.

 

“Our priority is the health and safety of our staff, students, and families in the communities we serve,” said Superintendent Tammy Prentiss. “District 86 will continue an active role in monitoring the status of the Sterigenics facilities and inform the District 86 community on any new developments.”
