D86 Wins Three Awards of Excellence for Communications from INSPRA

Hinsdale, Ill. – October 10, 2018 – Hinsdale Township High School District 86 announced today that Hinsdale Township High School District 86 won three Awards of Excellence for communications from the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA).

The two levels of awards are merit and excellence. According to INSPRA, Awards of Merit go to outstanding entries, and the Awards of Excellence represent this year’s very best in Illinois school communications.

District 86 submitted three entries to the 2018 INSPRA Communications Contest:

“The connection between the standard for excellence District 86 sets and our community is communications,” said Superintendent Dr. Bruce Law. “Karen Warner’s job is to tell that story and it is gratifying that a professional communications organization recognizes what we all see, that she does her job exceedingly well.”

“We are proud to be recognized for excellence in communications. These awards represent just a fraction of the work that we do in District 86 to engage with our community. Whether it’s the high level of transparency we provide on our website or the entire spectrum of routine to emergency information we give our parents, teachers, students and staff, communications does all of it. When I became Superintendent in 2013, there was no communications plan. Since Karen joined our team in 2014, she put in place the structures we have become so accustomed to we forget we didn’t have any of it just four years ago.”

Entries were evaluated against a rubric for that particular category, rather than against one another. Entries were judged in a variety of areas including design, writing, and clarity of message by judges from NSPRA chapters in Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, New York and Wisconsin.
