• Community Participation

District 86 offers community members a number of ways to attend, view or participate in Board of Education Meetings:

    Audience Communication

Members of the District 86 community are invited to participate in regular and special open meetings. As outlined in Board of Education Policy 2:230 Public Participation at Board of Education Meetings and Petitions to the Board, community members may address the Board in person during Audience Communication (at the open of the meeting) or Audience Comments (at the close) of any public meeting. Sign up is available for Audience Communication about 30 minutes prior to the meeting start time. Unlike Audience Communication at the start of a meeting, Audience Comments do not require advance sign up. For Audience Comments, the Board of Education President will invite speakers to come forward at the appropriate time.

Petitions or written correspondence to the Board shall be presented to the Board of Education at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.

Community members participating in Board meetings should conduct themselves with respect and civility toward others and otherwise abide by Board Policy 8:30 Visitors to and Conduct on School Property.

*Individuals with disabilities who require special assistance or services for participation in Board of Education Meetings should contact the District Office at 630.655.6100. Board of Education Policy 8.70 Accommodating Individuals with Disabilities.
