During the 2019-20 school year, students from Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South will participate in five Flexible Learning Days. On these days, students will have a half day of face-to-face instruction at school and a half day of flexible learning at home. The half day of flexible learning will include extension activities that will either connect to the work that was done in class that morning or serve as an introduction to the lesson that is planned for the following day. Remote Learning Days will be utilized when severe weather or other emergencies make it difficult for students and staff to travel safely to and from school. On these days, students will complete prescribed coursework at home. Similar to our Flexible Learning Days, this coursework will serve as an extension of what was already done in class, or act as a bridge to the next day’s lesson. One of the benefits of using these days is that they help us avoid the main issue or challenge of a traditional “emergency/snow” day, which is that they often need to be made up at the end of the school year.
